There's no such thing as a "difficult employee"

As leaders and managers we spend inordinate amounts of time finding the best way(s) to deal with ‘difficult employees.’ But what we don’t spend much time on is producing a work environment that greatly reduces the possibility of creating ‘bad actors’ at work. With the exception of a few extraordinary cases, we leaders and managers – through effective mismanagement - create our own ‘difficult employees’…and then wonder what to do about them…
